Burma-Shave Signs
Call for volunteers! For now we’re at the Sunday bannering on Sleater-Kinney near the overpass. (You can stop by and help—or just honk!) We intend to branch out to various high-traffic rush-hour places soon, and we also have plans to show cars where some ballot boxes are. We’d like to compile a list of “on-call” volunteer sign-holders for pop-up hours. We supplement our friends at the Olympia Visibility Brigade (OVB) with additional bannering. Recently, comedian Cliff Cash saw us as he was driving and came up to our protest on Sunday! If was fun meeting him. He gave us a banner and some supplies. JOIN US! Sundays, 1pm–2:30pm at the Sleater-Kinney I-5 overpass! Bring LARGE signs, flags, costumes, and good spirits! If you’re interested in other dates, or want to help, contact us to join in! We meet at the Lacey Civic Plaza, located at 521 Sleater Kinney Rd SE, in Lacey. (Please do not park in the Applebees parking lot as they need that space for their customers.) There is plenty of space in the old Sears parking lot. We learned a lot from our Primary Ballot Box Observation Project! We quickly organized a project to protect our Thurston County ballot boxes for the WA primary election. While we didn’t expect any problems, we used the opportunity to run a trial operation to see what we could learn. The Thurston County Auditor's Office has things well organized. Left alone we will have a free and fair election in Thurston County. This is a volunteer effort coordinated independent of the Thurston County Auditor's office. We want to report any problems.

Our Goals
• Help keep voting at our ballot drop boxes safe.
• Alert the authorities of vandalism to ballot boxes (we did find some during the primary).
• Alert the authorities of attempts at voter intimidation—but not be intimidating ourselves.
• Our friendly “Thank You” signs let people know we are just observing. They will be a reminder to vote, and help to identify ballot drop box locations.
Our intentions: Help keep voting at our drop boxes safe. Alert the authorities of vandalism. Alert the authorities of attempts at voter intimidation. We are not physical protectors. We are simply making sure that there is no hanky-panky. We will report and document issues.
Our rules:
• No talking to voters, no interactions with voters
• No pictures of voters or voter cars, license plates
• No talking to Thurston County workers as they pick up ballots
• No helping with lines
• No electioneering, no pushing for any candidate or issue
• Stay at least 25' from the drop box. Stay out of traffic.

Ballot Box Observer Project
Dave Little has shared an activity he is working on to help pass the important Virginia redistricting election. He is working with the Center for Common Ground.
They have training slides and provide the process for guided phone banking. As you know, most people these days don’t answer calls from unknown numbers so phone banks usually leave voicemail messages. But a message in a sincere human voice does have an impact. The elections this year, especially the midterms, are going to be a serious battle. Contact us if you are interested in helping.
The Environmental Voter Project
is a non-partisan group that identifies millions of non-voting environmentalists and turns them into consistent voters. Our team member, Sabra Hull, is leading a project to work with them to help more generally impact the vote in swing states. We will be organizing many post card parties and other activities working on the EVP project. One of the fun things about working with EVP is that we then get a report on the voters we contacted to see if they voted! Who votes is public record. So, it will be a project with feedback on our impact! It should be rewarding. Contact us to join in!
Mourning Our Losses
Northwest Indivisible organized a Funeral Procession through the Lakefair event in Olympia, WA, on Saturday, July 18th. It was a walking sign wave with 50+ “tombstones” and 70 people dressed in black. Each tombstone had a message about something we have lost since Trump 2.0. So much of our country is being degraded that we could have had 200 tombstones! We looped around the Lakefair grounds, very peacefully and quietly, for almost an hour. We want to thank the community for being so supportive of this event. Lots of people at Lakefair were reminded of all we have lost.
We got thousands of likes and at least 340 reposts, and a couple other Indivisible groups asked about copying our event, so we shared our artwork.
Remember Burma-Shave signs? We are turning on our way-back machines to bring a little lightness to some pretty dark days. It consists of four or five snappy signs held in sequence that add up to a pro-democracy jingle! We’re collecting a team to hold these signs, distanced about 30 feet apart, at various locations and events.
Our showing of Sundance Official Selection 2025 film Heightened Scrutiny was enjoyed by attendees, and the information shared by No Hate Washington State was much appreciated.
NWI supports the efforts of No Hate in Washington State. They urge you to share their cause, and this November to VOTE NO on IL26-001 and IL26-638, which endanger Washington students with invasive genital exams, forced LGBTQ+ outings, and restricted access to help when they need it most, exposing them to more hate, bullying, and harassment.

Brought by Elma Indivisible and Save Our Democracy, this memorial of white crosses recognizes the people who have been killed by ICE on the streets or while in ICE custody since Trump took office. The Centralia Chronicle has covered the latest additions of crosses—bringing them to 72_74 people killed. First installed in April 2026, 52 people had been killed by ICE. Most of these deaths occurred in ICE detention facilities, caused by: physical abuse by detention center staff (deaths ruled homicides by medical examiners); lack of medical care, delayed treatment, and denial of medications; measles outbreaks; and suicide in the context of rotten food, unsafe drinking water, lack of sanitation, and relentless noise and unceasing light created by the detention staff. ICE agents have also killed people outside of detention centers by shooting and with ICE vehicles.

No Kings 3 was a historic success!
Olympia recorded approximately 4,000 people at the March 28th No Kings 3 event at the State Capitol (WA Republicans had a No King Fergusen rally across the street with only a few dozen supporters.) Our event was completely peaceful, and the Northwest Indivisible booth collected $671.55 for Thurston County Food Bank and $291.37 for our group. It was a glorious day and was pretty much enjoyed by all.
